Balki becomes glued to the television set when Larry and Balki get cable.
Larry and Balki get a cable instalation. They have four all movie channels, an all aerobics channel, an all shopping channel, an all sports channel, an all news channel, and an all music video channel.
Later that night Larry finds Balki up watching three all war channels, all starring Arnold Schwartzeneggar. Larry has to convince him to go to bed.
Two weeks later, Larry and Harriette are discussing Balki's behavior since they got cable. Since Balki has been up until 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning, he sings the theme song of "I Dream of Geenie" she concludes that Balki is a couch potato.
Larry talks to Balki and tells him that he has been spending too much time watching TV, and that Balki is addicted. Balki disagrees and says that he can stop watching TV any time. So Balki turns off the TV, but as soon as Larry leaves the apartment, Balki turns it back on again.
One day Larry locks the TV in a deposit box at the bus station. Balki is wondering if this is some sick joke that Larry is playing. Larry leaves the apartment for a while and Balki goes out and buys a new TV. Larry chases Balki around the apartment to get the remote from Balki, but Balki can just use his finger! Finally, Larry asks Balki how long it's been since he wrote his mother. It's been two weeks. Balki now realizes that he has a problem.
The next day, Balki is over his problem. Larry and Balki are going to a concert.
